Not only does she juggle projects, clients, and staff, but she also has a wealth of technical knowledge which ensures our solutions deliver value for our businesses and their end-users.
What do you do at Future Platforms and what is your favourite part about your role?
I am a Project Director at Future Platforms, where I have been working for five years. I have over nine years of experience managing technical projects and I still very much enjoy the challenges and excitement that comes with my role. I am responsible for our key accounts and ensuring we deliver products to the highest standards, whilst also managing our clients’ unique needs and goals, and making sure they are met.
As cliche as it may sound, I love solving problems. Generally in life, I enjoy helping people and it is something I can apply in my day-to-day job. I like to ensure our clients are feeling happy and stress-free by being as proactive as I can to mitigate issues before they arise. The other aspect of my job I like is getting to work closely with technical teams. I have always had a passion for tech since I was little and I like to understand how things work, so I find it very satisfying.
Tell us a bit about your journey and how you got here:
Fasten your seatbelts, it has been quite the journey:
I did my master’s degree in Information Technology Management back in Paris, where I am from. I had the amazing opportunity to do my last year of studies at the University of Bangkok, Thailand. Although it felt so frightening back then, it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. It opened my horizons and made me the person I am today; passionate about people and cultures.
After graduating, I worked in Paris as a Project Manager for three years before deciding I needed a bit more excitement. I left Paris for Melbourne, Australia (it’s far, I know). There, I continued to work in project management for a year but made sure to include some road trips with the kangaroos, of course.
After a year spent in Australia, I decided to come back to Europe but to London this time. It felt like a good balance between working in a different country without being too far from home. And here I am, five years later, a Project Director at Future Platforms.
What projects are you most excited to work on and why?
I find business transformation projects the most exciting. It’s incredible to be part of a project that completely revolutionises models, and increases productivity and revenue for our clients.
One of the best examples is the work we did for Domino’s Pizza and the driver tracking system we developed. It’s a custom-built application for Domino’s Pizza’s 27,000+ drivers, combined with an in-store reporting dashboard that provides real-time data feeds for analysis.
I had the chance to be part of the team that developed the MVP, right up to store trials. This solution now results in multimillion-pound cost savings each year by making significant improvements to operations, efficiency, and productivity.
What/who inspires you?
Mindfulness! I got into mindfulness when I started yoga five years ago and I learnt so much about life from it. It means two things: being aware of your surroundings and the impact you can have on other people, and being aware of the present moment whilst acknowledging your feelings. Most importantly, it rhymes with kindness.
Finally, what would your superpower be?
Teleportation – can you imagine the time you’d save? Or how cool it would be to take your lunch break on a beach in the Caraïbes? We’ll get there…one day.
With a sharp interest in the technical details of solutions, Claire stands apart as a Project Director by emphasising product quality, whilst providing best-in-class support to her team.Phil Burtenshaw, Android Team Lead – Future Platforms
