Our mobile developers are always hard at work creating solutions that provide continuous value for the people who use them.
They need to be creative to bring our UX teams’ designs to life and passionate about the solutions we create.
Shrawan Zadoo has been part of the Future Platforms team for over four years and he has helped shape many of our mobile solutions. Shrawan not only produces amazing code but he is also the unofficial Future Platforms’ professional photographer – you can find many of his stellar shots on various articles throughout the website.
What do you do at Future Platforms and what is your favourite part about your role?
I’m a Mobile Developer at Future Platforms. My favourite part is to work with designers, developers, and QAs to build something aesthetically pleasing, well-engineered, and robust. I take pride that our code lives on millions of devices and provides value and service to the millions of people that are using it.
Tell us a bit about your journey and how you got here:
I had to implement a Mars rover recursion problem in my interview – it’s one of my first and favourite memories of Future Platforms. Working on the coding problem with Dougie and Rob was so great and I have had many such opportunities over the last four and a half years.
The amazing people I’ve worked with have helped me grow. I’ve made lasting relationships and travelled with people I have met here. I’ve faced tough times and great times and am grateful for being among such smart, dedicated, and hardworking people. They can also be funny on occasion.
What projects are you most excited to work on and why?
The Domino’s Pizza app was one of the best projects I’ve worked on with one of the best teams I’ve worked with. It was among the top 10 food apps in the UK and I worked on developing the app for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Android, Xbox, and Windows Phone 8. Right from adding the menu to integrating with low energy bluetooth beacons, the project had it all. Amazing analytics numbers and brilliant features make it one of the projects I’m most proud of.
Beyond the day-to-day development work, I got to see how the dough was made, write the release notes, set up location-aware push notifications, and make the app secure. The live testing orders with pepperoni pizzas and chicken kickers are still sticking around on my waistline.
What/who inspires you?
Possibilities inspire me. Nobel Prize, Pulitzer Prize, Olympics, Oscars, and all such platforms that push the boundaries of what a human can do. Knowing that it took four billion years of evolution for us to even exist and that I can learn new things from the collective knowledge of at least the last 10,000 years of human history inspires me…and gives me hope that maybe one day I can lose my love handles.
Finally, what would your superpower be?
None of the supernatural superpowers are compatible with the laws of the current universe; for them to be real, the laws of the universe would need to change and that would mean that the universe would no longer be the same. I just hope that I can keep gaining knowledge, have good relationships with others, and have Kit Harington’s hair.
Passionate and cheerful, Shrawan is a very talented developer who is always ready for a challenge! His versatility has repeatedly proven to be a valuable asset and his mentoring skills have aided many of his colleagues.Claire Vallez, Project Manager – Future Platforms
