Enhancing the Glastonbury Festival app to capitalise on EE’s sponsorship, creating an informative and entertaining ‘brand in the hand’ experience for attendees.
EE is the official sponsor of Glastonbury Festival. They initially approached us to enhance the 2010 version of the app and we have been continuously improving it ever since. Their objective was to capitalise on this sponsorship opportunity, providing a positive ‘brand in the hand’ experience that would engage, help, and keep festival goers connected.
We completely refined the UX and app design, alongside adding new features that gave users more power and functionality. We added essential festival information, shareable content, an option for attendees to build their own line-up, and other features such as Apple Music song previews, live BBC streaming, and extended offline capabilities.
The updates resulted in unprecedented levels of sessions, page loads, and time spent in-app year after year. The app is now considered to be a crucial part of the festival kit and a core part of the festival experience, with a total number of downloads that exceeds the amount of tickets sold.
Our 4G network on site means our customers can stay connected for the entire festival and the app continues to be an essential digital guide for those both there and also for Glastonbury fans who couldn't make it down.
