The dust had just settled on the Audi RS 4 "spider" campaign, when Audi and our friends at digital agency Good Technology decided to repeat the experience for the UK launch of Audi's SUV: the Audi Q7.
We picked up on the most eye catching feature of the RS4 campaign - the downloadable Java brochure - and made it even better, including:
- 360° rotations of both the interior and exterior of the car, enriched by hotspots with detail images and text commentary
- A response mechanic, with users able to request a brochure by filling out a simple form within the application
- Support for a wider range of mobile phones - about 50 of the most popular handsets in the UK
- A high quality WAP site, plus video downloads, for users with unsupported mobile phones
The mobile brochure is promoted through Audi's advertising on several targeted publications from Arena and Creative review to Country Life and Cartier Polo. Text "Q7" to 82772 to take a look. It is distributed through Future Platforms' own mobile distribution system.
If the Audi RS4 campaign was the first exploration of mobile advertising beyond basic SMS, the Q7 mobile brochure shows that Java downloads can play an integral role in direct response campaigns.
