As part of Orange’s annual sponsorship of the Glastonbury festival, we were approached to develop a mobile app. The brief was to achieve reach, both by building an app for a wide range of smartphones (iPhone, Android, and Nokia) and by extending the appeal of the app beyond festival-goers.
We achieved both aims, launching the app a month before the festival started and driving downloads before the lineup announcement… then encouraging the use of mood tracking and sharing via social media to build live “heat maps” of the festival as it happened, and give the audience at home a chance to feel involved.
The figures speak for themselves: a festival with 150,000 participants which achieved more than 100,000 app downloads.
