Working with an in-house team at the BBC and developers at Facebook, this project was an experiment to test consumer attitudes towards checking into events and privacy. We built a mobile web site for attendees of the Radio 1 Big Weekend, geographically restricted so it could only be accessed from the venue. From this site attendees could “check in” to individual stages, have their presence recorded and reported both via Facebook, and into aggregated stats visualised on the bbc.co.uk web site.
We provided all mobile design and development, built a dedicated CMS for the product, hosted the service, carried out functional and load testing, and implemented integration with Facebook and the BBC.
